English: Japanese traditional sweets are somewhat unusual. Many of them are some variant of mochi, a ball made from pound rice or rice flower.

English: Daifuku mochi can contain some sweet filling, like red bean paste or even sweet potatoe. Kushi Dango is several of the sweets on a skewer, possibly with some sweet sauce on top.
